Stree movie Trailer Review | trailer analysis | story prediction |

So, so and so.

Stree movie Trailer Review | trailer analysis | story prediction |
Stree trailer is out and is looking mindblowing interesting.
From the trailer which looks promising for its genre is fantastically crafted, whatever the content of the movie be. The mix of comedy and horror is nothing new in this Bollywood; something that we see every next year every next director making a movie on it. Nevertheless, most of the movies either end up being 'a comedy which is horror', or 'a horror that is a comedy'. Bollywood has always been lacking a recipe for perfect horror comedy movie (not to mention our horror movie is no less than a lame joke); most of the movie lacks the balance between this two -pure horror or pure comedy or both. Although the movie 'Stree' looks promising with talented actor Rajkumar Rao in a role of Vicky tailor(most probably) of Chanderi village and Shraddha Kapoor as his ghosty girlfriend.

Trailer analysis :
First thing first. As we have been told 'Mard ko dard Hoga' in the movie and that it is ridiculously based on the true phenomenon -that phenomenon is The legend of Nala ba about a witch who knocks on people's doors at night. The person to respond to her call will be killed within the next 24 hours.

stree-trailer-review

Although the legend story is taken as a base as per our belief the movie is loosely based on thAT legend; like; about the witch who knocks at the door and the village people who in a manner to escape from her ,in actual incident used to write Nala ba(which is a Malayalam word meaning 'come tomorrow') to fool her.

From the trailer, we can interpret that the myth of 'Stree' has prevailed from the ages but she only visits the village during the festival and that only for four days.

The movie is balanced between the love story of Vicky and his girlfriend whose act seems creepy as described by his friends.

Story prediction :
Although the movie is based on the urban legend Nala ba, we believe it is only based on concept wise nothing else. The movie must start with a myth in the village getting stronger every year during the festival that the 'Stree' will be visiting them for she is hungry for love (as hinted in the trailer). It is when we will be introduced to Vicky (maybe a tailor or some nearer profession) who is having a hard time finding love for he is strange and innocent. Then the festival arrives and the preparation against the 'stree' takes the toll. Like love at sight, Vicky meets shraddha and falls for her while her strange behavior, sudden, and disappearance makes people believe she must be the ghost. This can be the probable reason why Vicky sets his team against the ghost to fight. Isn't?

probably. although in my version certain loose ends remain to be loose, like Wiki's page showing Shraddha Kapoor' character's name as 'stree'. Plus the trailer makes firm hints that the 'stree' in the hood is none other than Shraddha Kapoor's character.

Whatever be it, very soon it's going to unfold in nearest cinemas.

And yes, we at spillreview do believe Shraddha is not the real 'Stree'. What do you say?

Story-Byte:
In the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible series -- As the IMF's best man Ethan Hunt's mission goes wrong, the credibility of the agency is questioned by the CIA and the world is faced with a catastrophic threat. Hunt takes it upon himself to save the world and win back the trust that his government had bestowed upon him. Will he and his team fallout or will they succeed in this impossible mission?

Overall Review :
Movies come and goes but only a few lefts benchmarks.
Franchise movie in Hollywood is a common phenomenon and we have seen it being served again and again but does all the movie is series delivers better than its predecessor? Maybe not. Not all. but mission impossible: fallout is definitely not one of them.

Mission: Impossible - Fallout is the sixth film in the 22-year-old movie franchise and it is a direct sequel to the 2015's Rogue Nation.

The story revolves around an infanticidal group of terrorist who gets the hand on the three nuclear warheads. These folks want to wreak havoc on the world because they believe the greater the pain, the greater will be the peace. Hunt comes to the rescue. but, the CIA becomes skeptical of Ethan Hunt and the IMF . in response a CIA operative is assigned to his team . hunt and this operative must work together to track down the bombs and unravel the conspiracy before its too late.
the movie establishes Ethan hunt as a man of constant energy and relentless in his pursuit who is not willing to compromise even a single life even for the betterment of humanity. this is the sad truth which brings trouble to him.

Final Spill Verdict :
Overall, 'Mission: Impossible - Fallout  ' fails to carry the legacy of deceit, conspiracy, greed, and lust forward. It tries very hard to keep you engrossed at times but the film mostly drags which adds to the boredom and tedious viewing.

The final question ' Is it the impossible mission you wanted to see Cruise working on?'
  • Yes even if you are not a die-hard fan of  'Mission: Impossible - Fallout ' series or Hollywood movie or Tom Cruise(that can hardly happen). Go for it in Hindi, which is equally dubbed, preserving the essence. It does set yet another benchmark for movies like this; in this genre.
  • Somewhat no = null void. No, one and only if you don't like action thriller and fear seeing protagonist jumping from helicopters, fab bike chasing scenes and a thrill around your seat.
Should I watch?
I know you won't wait for my opinion and if you do, you are no more than a fool to do so. Must watch for this genre.

Genre: Action, Thriller

Spill Rating: 2.5 out of 5

Story-Byte:
The royal saga of deceit, conspiracy, greed and lust continues in the third installment of the film series, as the Saheb and Biwi are pitted against a foe who is dreaded by one and all. With everyone involved scheming ruthlessly for their own personal gain, the cloak-and-dagger game is about to take a dark and bloody turn.

Overall Review :
Royal revenge, plotting, conspiracy, greed, lust - if these are the words that fascinated you about the just-released movie 'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3', you'll be sorely disappointed.

As the movie promised to deliver a story of revenge, the royal saga of deceit, conspiracy, greed, and lust; there was all but then nothing. From the very beginning, you would not be able to see any plus scenes rather the characters looked tired and under-developed. Since the movie is the third installment in the series no doubt the expectations were high; The first two editions of this film were very interesting and set some great benchmarks for the thriller -action-drama genre. But the third installment has clearly fallen short of expectations.
Actor-Director duo of Sanjay Dutt and Tighmanshu seemed incompatible. Some scenes just happen with no logic or reason.
Tighmanshu 's 'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3' delivers nothing new movie being revolving around the central character saheb's biwi, Madhavi Devi, played by Mahie Gill and Saheb aka Aditya Pratap Singh played by Jimmy Sheirgill plotting and planning to deprive and eliminate each other in their quest for power and supremacy.

Then there is Yuvraj Uday Singh, another branch of this royal family; a mighty stylish gangster and a roulette expert who has earned his fortunes by winning the deadly games of Russian roulette taking shade in London. He is madly in love with his mistress Mona (Chitrangda Singh) which makes him leave his family.

This is when we are introduced to Saheb of the movie (Jimmy Shergill) being incubated in the jail. Thus hinting that this movie is a sequel, as said, to its predecessor which to be honest looks awfully stretched and unnecessary. the movie could have been a fresh start. Coming back to the plot, on the other hand, Saheb's first wife is seen as a politician having her own reach and reputation that she uses mightly to halt his husband's stay at jail more. But things get fairly interesting when Saheb is set free and returns back to his humungous haveli; two sharing the same roof - one a sly cat and other an injured tiger as said 'Gill and Sher-Gill' in the trailers.

Director seems confused here when he deports Sanjay Dutt back to India as an escape plan for he killed an important Whitman. Is he being shown as a powerful man who can escape laws too?

Though Dutt has done this kind of roles earlier, he looks tired here. He is apt for the role but the director and actor duo seems incompatible; Dhulia failed to use him as a perfect tool. Dutt sometimes looks lost in stylish-dashing gangster role.

Soha Ali Khan as Saheb’s biwi no.2 Ranjana is wasted, literally and figuratively. Rest of the supporting cast - Kabir Bedi, Nafisa Ali and Deepak Tijori are adequately cast as the royal family of Boondigarh, where many characters do nothing but stretching and making the first half of the movie a lazy. Second half being a victim of a weak script. Dhulia seems to have been in dilemma as to where an actor would look perfect thus taking too much of screen time to develop each character. Lots of scenes were unnecessary and forcefully linking this movie to its predecessor was a negative point.

The movie could have been much better and interesting had some plus point been added and forcefully linking of characters from its predecessor been avoided other than not stretching the movie by item numbers and unnecessary scenes.

Final Spill Verdict :
Overall, 'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3' fails to carry the legacy of deceit, conspiracy, greed, and lust forward. It tries very hard to keep you engrossed at times but the film mostly drags which adds to the boredom and tedious viewing.

The final question ' Is it the royal saga of conspiracy and deceit that will hold you at seats?'
  • Yes if you are a die-hard fan of  'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3'. For common public like us, it will be just another movie in the action-thriller genre.
  • Somewhat no because the first two editions of this film were very interesting and they set some great benchmarks for the thriller -action-drama genre. But the third installment has clearly fallen short of expectations
Should I watch?
Go watch the movie for Gill and Gill(Jimmy Shergill and Mahie Gill). They deserve it. Definitely a one-time watch movie with no expectation.

Story-Byte:
In the town, there are fables of this strange woman who calls men by their name and abducts them, leaving their clothes behind. Nobody knows any facts - and those who are abducted seldom show up to tell stories - but the fear is palpable. Everybody diligently makes sure the inscription O Stree, Kal Aana (O Woman, Come Tomorrow) is written on their walls, and at night try and stay indoors.

Stree is a horror comedy about an urban legend in Chanderi and how people deal with it.

Overall Review :
The story is of Chander Village of Madhya Pradesh where every year a fair or 'Devi puja' is being conducted in which those four days a  witch is rumored to be abduction males of the village. To save themselves from her, the villagers have carved 'stree kal aana' in the walls of their house seeing which stree doesn't come. Now how this village is saved from it is the remaining part of the story!

Although in the past we haven't seen any such successful movies in this genre, stree movie stands out of all those. ‘Stree’ is a horror comedy that will keep you completely entertained. Amar Kaushik’s debut film has a rare mix of really scary moments salted with a good amount of humor.

Rajkumar Rao as always has shone in this movie too. His dialogue delivery and presence of scene is commendable. He does have some very big dialogues as well as greater screen space than any other actor and he hasn't wasted any of those moments. He does comedy too that is digestible as well.

Talking about Shraddha Kapoor she looks beautiful in the movie and she was given some unique scenes where she shows her ability and mettle. He is one such talented actor who knows how to incorporate face expression with what is the background of the scene.

Pankaj Tripathi looks gracious as always. His Eminence has been spread too much and for a reason. in the movie he his seen with his regular type of role. his timing of dialogue delivery and express is what makes the movie more watchable. he definitely is one such star of the movie.

Abhishek Banerjee and Kumar shakti Khurrana add to the plus points of the movie. they add taste to the movie by delivering some good punch lines. they are also responsible for the humor in between the eerie scenes which makes this movie a successful horror comedy movie.

Other good aspects of the movie are its Background department and Makeup Department, They do deserve a recognition. Music is another thing that helps a movie gaining some good points which this movie is successful in.

Although there is some error in the movie too we at spillreview feels this can be neglected and we should see in the good part of the movie. As this movie does perform well.

The thing we love about this movie is its morale delivering end. Other than being a complete masala entering movie the director has something to convey to its audience too which in most of the movie we miss.

Final Spill Verdict :
Overall, 'Stree ' is one such movie which will be taken as a lesson for the future movie in this genre. It does deliver what is expected from it. It will keep you, if not engrossed, at least hold at the chairs and carve for what is next going to happen.

The final question ' Will the 'mard feel dard' after spending on tickets of this movie?'
  • The answer is a big NO. This is the movie you would feel worth watching even if you don't like any of the actors in the movie. The movie is well woven and does have something to say.
  • Somewhat yes(= null void).
Should I watch?
I know you aren't waiting for my views. Presence of Rajkumar Rao is enough to attract you to the big screens. Go watch it. You won't regret!

Storyline:
An Afghani Al-Qaeda Jihadi Omar (Rahul Bose), his accomplice Salim (Jaideep Ahlawat) and their international terror network, plots to attack New York with a "Cesium-bomb". Vishwanath alias Wiz (Kamal Haasan) is a Kathak teacher who lives with his wife Nirupama (Pooja Kumar), a nuclear oncologist, in New York. Nirupama confides with a psychologist that it’s a marriage of convenience that provided her a safe haven for pursuing her Ph.D in the U.S. The age gap between them notwithstanding, she is put off by Vishwanath’s effeminate traits and is attracted to her boss, Deepak (Samrat Chakrabarti). Doubting whether her husband has secrets of his own, She hires a private investigator to trail him. She learns from the private investigator that Vishwanath is not a Hindu but a Muslim. In a sudden turn of events, the investigator gets killed by a member of the terrorist outfit led by Omar. A business card on his wallet gives away Nirupama and the terror group nabs the couple. The outfit operates from a warehouse on the outskirts of the city where the couple is being interrogated.
Vishwanath is involved in a fight with the terrorists at the warehouse and escapes with Nirupama. Omar and Vishwanath have a past, one that takes the story back by almost a decade, to the Al-Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan. What follows is a maze of events that go back and forth in time, unraveling a plot where in the terrorists are accumulating cesium from oncology devices to trigger a blast in New York.
Nirupama is stunned to discover the true identity of her husband Vishwanath, his uncle (Shekhar Kapur), American accomplice Dawkins (Miles Anderson) and the young dancer Ashmita (Andrea Jeremiah) at her husband’s dance school. Vishwanath is revealed to be Wisam,a Muslim RAW agent who married Nirupama to investigate Deepak and his boss Omar in connection with a bomb blast in the heart of New York. His mission is to bust the ‘sleeper-cell’ of the Jihadis in the US, which is planning to divert the attention through "capsules" capable of emitting mild nuclear radiation tied to pigeons in New York city while enabling Black (James Babson) to detonate the cesium bomb in the city.
Together, the team try to counter the plans of Omar and his group that could destroy the most of the New York city. In the ensuing events, Vishwanath is arrested by the FBI before being rescued by his uncle and Dawkins is murdered by Salim. Whether Vishwanath along with the FBI were able to stop the calamity to be unfolded forms the rest of the story.

Overall Review :
"Much expected movie but a less delevering !"
In one word this is what we at Spillreviews could say. The expectations were highs considering the fact that is a sequel or part 2 of the previous movie Vishwaroopam which was critically loved by the criotics as well as humbly recieved by the audience. But we as audeience felt a little cheated. Movie does have some Usp and great dialogue delivery and storyline but still movie felt loose to our eyes. Maybe mostly because the the bar of expectations being highen up by its predissor.
What I would I say is definitely a watchable movie but a loose movie. Characters are not so powerful. They feels plastic and no real like- as was the case in Vishwaroopam 1.
Complex story-line which include flashbacks and pre-flashbacks ; although a unique way of telling a story looks tedious and not so impressive. Fight scenes and actions were its USP's but that too is not useful featuring not required addition of sub-plots.

Final Spill Verdict :
Overall, 'Vishwaroop 2' could have been a great and applauding movie but its lagging and stretched 1st half, loose and not so powerful characters don't give us the treat we expected from the Vishwaroop 2, considering its part was was so awesome.

The final question ' Is it the spy-thriller that was missing and we wanted to watch?'

  • No, not really would be my answer. It was stretched too much and its complicated way of storytelling may not be welcomed with open arms by the common audiences. Although a deserving movie it failed to impress some of the reputed critics and us too.
  • From us, go watch or not should definately be your desicion. We were not greatly impressed with the movie although a deserving movie.

Should I watch?
Go watch the movie for finding out the flaws at-least and for Kamal Hasaan and Rahul Bose in a cameo. Only Kamal Hasaan in the lead roles is someone to watch, who could impress.
